Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) is a diseased state of the liver caused by various combinations of metabolic conditions, obesity, a diet high in sugar, over consumption of fat, and/or a sedentary lifestyle. The liver in NAFLD is infiltrated by fat and causes inefficiencies in liver function.

An estimated 20% of Americans have NAFLD and I am one of them.

My journey to understanding and beating NAFLD started in January 2020 when I was diagnosed by my general practitioner after an annual wellness exam. When I started to seek out information about NAFLD I discovered two things: 1) not many people talk about NAFLD and 2) not many resources exist to help individuals beat this disease.

My goals in openly sharing about this condition and how it impacts my life are to help spread awareness about this under-diagnosed disease, share how I am managing my condition, and give hope to others working to beat it.

I believe we should never face life’s difficulties alone. I also believe sharing stories helps empower others to do the same.
